July 9, 2004, Newsletter Issue #10: Travel experts are Travelers!

Tip of the Week

Right now, I’m sitting in the cockpit of our sailboat in Richardson’s Bay in Sausalito, California, just north of San Francisco. Last night, my sweetie and I chatted about the amazing trips we’ve taken all over the world. It occurred to me that many of the most interesting and romantic places we’ve visited don’t always make it onto lists of honeymoon hotspots. Then again, many consistent favorites are beloved for good reason. For instance, we’ve lived and traveled extensively in Hawaii, and would recommend a honeymoon in the Aloha State to just about anyone.

Our combined travels also include beachcombing in Malaysia, treks through Australian rainforests, bike tours of Europe’s castles, and extensive island hopping in the Caribbean. We’ve gotten to know both coasts of Mexico, and we’ve lived on the East Coast from Montreal to Florida and on the West Coast from British Columbia to San Diego (not to mention many of the great spots in between).

Aside from the travel highlights and pitfalls that separate “armchair” voyagers from travelers (and agents from experts), we’ve learned that there is beauty and romance to be found everywhere, particularly if you experience them with someone you’re absolutely crazy about! There are fantastic travel deals, scenic wonders, cozy cottages and sophisticated nightlife to be discovered wherever we roam, whether by land, air or sea. Just yesterday, I watched a lavish Greek wedding taking place on a yacht anchored next to us, right here in the very Mediterranean climate of Marin County!

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be writing about some of the most exciting and idyllic spots on earth, starting with TheBigDay’s home state--complete, as it is with snow-capped volcanic mountains, dramatic beaches, wild rivers, and world-class wines and cuisine--the great, green state of Oregon. In the meantime, if you have questions about any honeymoon destination--exotic or domestic--just drop me a line at the honeymoon site at lifetips.com.

Happy sailing, happy trails and, most importantly, happy honeymoon!
